Florence Ruth Newcomb, 93, of Walnut Creek, California, passed away Monday, March 23, 2015, at Tiffany Court Assisted Living in Walnut Creek.
She was born July 5, 1921, to Vern Frank Riser and Evelyn (Steging) Riser in Shelbyville.
She married William Edward Newcomb, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Pamela Greene of Tempe, Arizona, and Jan Elyse Neal of Castro Valley, California; son, Adam Grant Newcomb of Palm Desert, California; eight grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and siblings, Evelyn Jean Swails of Mooresville, Jacqueline Ann Bruner of Shelbyville; Donald Ray Riser of Indianapolis and Carol Sue Osborne of Beech Grove.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Charlotte May Pflum; and brother, Vern Frank “Bud” Riser Jr.
Mrs. Newcomb worked as a secretary and was a homemaker. Christianity was very important to her.
She was involved in the local Bible study at Tiffany Court.
A private graveside will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
