Violet Ray, 82, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015 at her residence.

She was born Feb. 27, 1933, to George Wainscott and Emily (Martin) Wainscott.

She married Marlin Ray on Jan. 4, 1952 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1992.

Mrs. Ray is survived by her son, Ronnie Ray of Shelbyville; daughter, Marla Ray and fiance Stanley Grapevine, of Shelbyville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Richey Ray, five brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Ray graduated from Shelbyville High School.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She enjoyed her gardening and flower beds.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 9:30 a.m to 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the church with Father Aaron Pfaff officiating.

Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery in Arlington, IN with Rev. Harvey Weaver conducting the graveside service for Mrs. Ray.

Memorial contributions may be made in Vi's honor to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 127 E. Broadway, Shelbyville, IN. 46176.

Funeral directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mrs. Ray.

Ronnie and Marla, thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Rest assured that their is a a reunion going on with Her, your Dad and Richy, and sure many others. Mom (Vi Miller) will be there Sat depending on how she is doing that day as she is also in failing health, but your Mom meant the world to her, and she wants to come. We have discussed many memories of the good ole days! Know you are all in our families thoughts and prayers. Vi Miller, Teresea, Tonya, Mary Lou, Eddie and Kim.
