Meredith Ray Harrell, 87, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Walker House in Shelbyville.

He was born April 19, 1927, to Marion Harrell and Zella (Fisher) Harrell in Shelby County. He married Patricia A. Harrell on May 5, 1950, and she preceded him in death Aug. 30, 2001.

Survivors include four daughters: Darlene Pile and husband, Chuck, of Edinburgh; Kathy Walton and husband, Richard, of Shelbyville; Rita Wertz of Waldron; and Cindy Clay and husband, Jeff, of Shelbyville; son, Tony Harrell of Centerville; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; son-in-law, Monte Wertz; five sisters and one brother.

Mr. Harrell was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was employed as a carpenter for Force Construction, retiring in 1981.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Mr. Harrell was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Knights of Columbus and American Legion.

He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with family and friends.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2015, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville. The Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St., Shelbyville, with Father Paul Landwerlen officiating.

Burial will be at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery in Shelby County.

Memorial contributions may be given to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, 2626 E. 17th St., Columbus, IN 47201.

Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mr. Harrell.
