F. Dale Brattain, 82, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at Major Hospital.

He was born Sept. 23, 1932, to Floyd C. Brattain and Geraldine (Jones) Brattain in Shelbyville.

Survivors include son, Rex Brattain of Greenfield; daughter, Angela Miller of Franklin; grandchildren, Maghan, Katie, Patrick and Elizabeth; brother, Elmer Brattain of Shelbyville; and sisters, Kay McBroom of Carmel and Carolyn Schneider of Shelbyville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Beverly Mitchko.

Mr. Brattain lived in Shelby County his entire life and was a 1950 Shelbyville High School graduate.

Mr. Brattain was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was the original owner/operator of Fire Station Motors and later was employed with Shelby National Bank for 15 years. He was then owner/operator of Dale's Auto Sales for 20 years.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 28, Shrine Club, Scottish Rite, Shelby County Shrine Club, American Legion Post No. 70 and Moose Lodge No. 17.

He enjoyed reading, playing golf and fishing.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Todd Poynter officiating.

Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mr. Brattain.

To the family of Dale he was a very nice man. We had the pleasure of doing business with him. Dale always had a smile on his face and kind words to say I remember going in Dale's Auto Sales and on slow days he would be sitting there playing solitary. Our kids always like him and he would let them have a piece of candy. I always felt like he really cared about his customers even after he sold the business he would stop to talk when he would see you out. My God Bless the family and our sincere condolences
