Ellen Louise Mings, 91, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis.

She was born May 14, 1923, to Charles Kettler and Grace (Martin) Kettler in Shelbyville. She married Ray Mings on Oct. 6, 1948, and he preceded her in death Sept. 17, 1991.

Survivors include daughters, Debra A. Barnett of Edinburgh; and Sharon Mings Hardwick, widow of Dennis Mings, of Fairland; grandchildren: Dennis R. Mings II; Michael E. Mings; Ryan A. Barnett and wife, Kimberly; and Bradley A. Barnett and wife, Jessica; 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Mrs. Mings worked at Camp Atterbury during World War II. She also had worked at KCL.

She loved gardening, yardwork, flowers and dogs. She always received a great blessing participating in the kids' and grandkids' activities.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Guy Langston officiating.

Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Ellen Louise Mings Trust Fund in care of the funeral home.

Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mrs. Mings.

To Deb and the family---so very sorry to hear about Aunt Louise. My heart and prayers are sent with much love. I will truly miss her and keep her in my heart. Ms. Mings Family:
While we did not know all of you, we treasured having your mom as a neighbor when we lived on Fairview Dr. She was always so happy to see the kids and she loved to be out in her yard. You have our sympathy during this difficult time -- we have very fond memories of her.
