Ned Rex "Neddy" Fitz Jr., 63, passed away Monday, Nov. 3, 2014.

He was born July 14, 1951, to Ned Rex Fitz Sr. and Jeanetta (Spurling) Fitz in Shelbyville. He married Reba June (Henderson) Fitz on Sept. 6, 1975, and she survives.

Other survivors include his parents of Shelbyville; son, Jason Dwain Fitz of Alabama; daughter, Trisha Kay Fitz of Alabama; grandchildren, Dylan, Hannah, Megan, Tanner, Evan and Adam; brothers: Terry Tim Fitz of Shelbyville; and Bret Alan Fitz and companion, Terri Pease, of Shelbyville; sister, Rhonda Kay Milligan of Georgia; brother-in-law, David Milligan of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Patti Fitz.

Mr. Fitz graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1969.

He served in the U.S. Army Reserve and Indiana National Guard.

He worked as a carpenter.

He always treasured Avon and Goober as man's best friends.

Mr. Fitz was an avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts, NASCAR driver Dale Earnhart Jr. and the University of Alabama Crimson Tide.

Neddy was a great chef and he loved the outdoors, where he was a true gardener of vegetables and flowers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Edwin Mohr officiating.

Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mr. Fitz.
