Dorothy M. Smith, 89, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at Heritage House in Shelbyville.

She was born July 15, 1925, to Everett Weakley and Mabel (Aldridge) Weakley in Shelbyville. She married Clarence E. Smith on Jan. 2, 1945, in Shelbyville, and he survives.

Other survivors include daughters: Vicki Sleeth of Tucson, Arizona; and Paula Hilderbrand and husband, Harold, of Shelbyville; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Helen Sawyers.

Mrs. Smith lived in Shelbyville all of her life and was a graduate of Shelbyville High School.

She worked in her early years at Albert's Furniture Store. After that she was a homemaker.

Mrs. Smith was a member of Vine Street Methodist Church for many years. She was very active in the church, serving as secretary to the missionary society, treasurer and secretary of church conference when meeting with the district superintendent.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.

Funeral services will follow at noon Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Harvey Weaver officiating.

Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Memorial contributions may be given to Cancer Society of Shelby County, P.O. Box 844, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
