Mary JoAnn Sullivan, 83, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at Ashford Place Health Campus.

She was born Aug. 27, 1931, to Alfred William Leppert and Rosina (Bogemann) Leppert in Shelby County. She married Mark Sullivan on May 1, 1952, and he preceded her in death March 15, 2003.

Survivors include two sons, Brian D. Sullivan and Bret A. Sullivan, both of Shelbyville; brother, Ralph C. Leppert of Shelbyville; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Michael Sullivan.

Mrs. Sullivan graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1949.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was involved with St. Anne's Altar Society.

She enjoyed gardening, canning, arts and crafts.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St. A Rosary will be recited at 2:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 W. Broadway St., with Father Aaron Pfaff officiating.

Burial will be at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery in Shelby County.

Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mrs. Sullivan.

Brian, Brett and family I am so sorry for your loss. Aunt Joann was a dear person. She was a devout Christian and wonderful human being. I will always remember spending weekends with her and Uncle Mark and the fun we had. Aunt Joann will be greatly missed! Carty
