Mildred Boyle
Mildred Louise Yeager Boyle, 105, passed away on June 17, 2014, at the Allisonville Meadows Nursing Home in Indianapolis.
She was born March 10, 1909, in the Blue Ridge area of Shelby County near Waldron. She was a member of the West Street United Methodist Church and was a past Noble Grand of the McQuiddy Rebecah Lodge.
Mrs. Boyle was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Edwin R. Boyle, in 2001; her parents, Charlie and Nellie Yeager; brothers, Donald, Roy and Bob; sisters, Maxine and Evelyn.
She is survived by her youngest sibling, Betty Benson of near Waldron; children: Tom Boyle and wife, Annette, of Indianapolis; Kathy Cheatham and husband, Roy, of St. Augustine, Florida; John Boyle and wife, Jo Ella, of Punta Gorda, Florida; and Charles Boyle of Indianapolis. She had nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Mrs. Boyle was a 1927 graduate of Waldron High School and attended the Terhune Business College. She was a “fiercely independent” lady, living alone in Shelbyville until 100 years old. She said many times she enjoyed life, prayed a lot, enjoyed bird-watching, reading and eating cookies. She was dubbed “The Cookie Monster” by those around her and she enjoyed the title. She was renowned for her exceptional apple pie which many failingly tried to duplicate.
Visitation will be from 9 until 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carl Ewick officiating.
Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the West Street United Methodist Church, 629 S. West St., Shelbyville, IN 46176; or to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, 2626 E. 17th Street, Columbus, IN 47201.

Tom,
Your mom was remarkable, and not only for having reached the 105-year milestone. Her rep as Cookie Monster shows that Boyle-PBS connection goes back many years! To have had her for so many years is a blessing and I send my sympathies for your loss. My hope is that she was able to see and take pride in your many accomplishments over the years.
I continue to value your friendship and advice,
Perry
