Robert D. Reed, 85, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Waldron Health and Rehabilitation.
  He was born Jan. 13, 1929, to Clifford Reed and Alta (Gregory) Reed in Decatur County. He married Burnetta Alvey on Oct. 19, 1956, and she preceded him in death Feb. 5, 1996.
  Survivors include sons: Charles “Chuck” R. Reed and wife, Andrea, of Shelbyville; and Morris Reed and wife, Lori, of Shelbyville; and six grandchildren.
  He was preceded in death by three sisters.
  Robert graduated from St. Paul High School.
  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for heroism in action while serving in Korea.
  He then was a member of the Indiana National Guard, retiring June 30, 1985.
  He was employed as a machine operator at KCL.
  Robert was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
  He was a member of Eagles Lodge No. 766, American Legion Post No. 70 and the Knights of Columbus.
  He enjoyed racing and all sports.
  Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.
The rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at the funeral home. Friends also may visit from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the church.
  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St., with Father Aaron Pfaff officiating.

  Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shelbyville.
  Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, 2626 E. 17th St., Columbus, IN 47201; or Self Shelbyville Boys & Girls Club, 710 S. Miller St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.
  Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mr. Reed.
