Norman Paul Bordenkecher, 78, of Franklin, passed away Tuesday, March, 4, 2014, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
He was born Jan. 28, 1936, to Walter Bordenkecher and Anna (Wesseler) Bordenkecher in Indianapolis. He married Edith (Schmidt) Bordenkecher on May 18, 1957, and she survives.
Other survivors include children: Diana Beagle and husband, Ed, of Granger; Steve Bordenkecher and wife, Rosanne, of Franklin; Larry Bordenkecher of Indianapolis; Linda Carter and husband, Brian, of Shelbyville; Dennis Bordenkecher and wife, Laura, of Franklin; Tony Bordenkecher and wife, Saundra, of Franklin; Greg Bordenkecher and wife, Courtney, of South Carolina;14 grandchildren; and siblings, Margaret Kennedy, Bill Bordenkecher, Joe Bordenkecher, Carolyn Hines and Pauline Graf, all of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Anita Bordenkecher, Charles Bordenkecher and Phyllis Metzler.
Mr. Bordenkecher was a union diesel mechanic with Local 135 of Teamsters.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Mr. Bordenkecher was a member of the National Rifle Association.
He was interested in attending gun shows looking for items relating to World War II. Hunting and gardening were his favorite pastimes. Chopping wood was his physical exercise and he enjoyed doing it.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St. Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Friday.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St., with Father Aaron Pfaff officiating.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shelbyville.
