Robert Earl Pittman, 67, of Shelbyville died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at his home.
Born April 6, 1943, in Bartholomew County, he was the son of Earl Alfred and Naomi Elvira (Mullis) Pittman. He married Ella Mae Millspaugh on Sept. 12, 2000, and she survives.
Other survivors include his son, Robert (wife, Shannon) Pittman of Salem; daughters, Kimberly Demoray and Tonya (husband, Jason) Clark, both of Franklin; stepson, William McCowan of Shelbyville; stepdaughters, Michelle Ribble of Arlington and Debbie McCowan of Rising Sun; sisters, Joan Logan of Shelbyville and Joyce (husband, Ray) Lochard of Indianapolis; brothers, Terry (wife, Jackie) Pittman and John Pittman of Shelbyville; sisters-in-law, Helen Davidson of Columbus, Ann Thackery of Shelbyville, Lillian Linville of Greensburg and Donna Raley of Edinburgh; grandchildren, Nichole, Bailey, Dylan, Madison, Joshua, Lyndsay, Alexander, Fox and Lindsey; and 15 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and one nephew.
Mr. Pittman was a carrier for The Shelbyville News for 18 years. He was a manager of a gas and oil business and previously a factory worker.
He was a member of the Indiana National Guard for six years.
Mr. Pittman enjoyed his paper route customers and collected die-cast cars. He also enjoyed country music, working in his yard and garden, eating out and going for rides, especially in the Rising Sun area, with family and friends.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Robert Prather officiating.
Burial will be in Whispering Hope Cemetery, with military rites conducted.
