Ira L. Knose, 94, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at Waldron Health & Rehabilitation.
He was born Feb. 8, 1919, to James Riley Knose and Emma Agnes (Branson) Knose in Morgan County. He married Mary Lee on Sept. 2, 1950, and she preceded him in death May 3, 2004.
Survivors include son, Gary Knose of Shelbyville; sister, Anna Harris of Indianapolis; brother, James Knose of Greenwood; seven grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister, Sarah Street.
Mr. Knose was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served during World War II.
He worked for Gariat Aerial Space until his retirement.
He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
He enjoyed fishing trips to Wisconsin.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2014, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
