Delbert L. “Tom” Rowe, 72, of Greencastle, Indiana, died Saturday, September 14, 2013, at The Waters of Greencastle in Greencastle, Indiana.
He was born February 23, 1941, to Delbert C. Rowe and Ada (Sasher) Comstock in Connersville, Indiana. He married Janice (Schumacher) Rowe on March 2, 1973, and she survives in Greencastle.
Survivors include: son, Jeffery (Donna) Rowe, of Fountaintown; daughter, Melissa (Chris) Wilson, of Greencastle; grandchildren, Julie, Hannah, Kinzee and Keifer; sister, Barbara (Glyndon) Smith, of Connersville; and brothers, Jerry (Alice) Merrill, of St. Paul, Billy Joe (Mae) Comstock, of Indianapolis and Ron (Paula) Comstock, of Shelbyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Douglas Rowe.
He was employed as a Shelby County Sheriff Deputy from 1962-1966, and then he joined the Indianapolis Police Department, where he served for 31 years until his retirement in 1999. Mr. Rowe belonged to the Police officer's Bass Club and the Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police. He was active in his children's activities, and otherwise, he was enjoying his fishing adventures.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Home, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at the funeral home with Robert Prather officiating.
Burial will take place in the Miller Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks and Sheila J. Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mr. Pickett.
