Clarence Roy Dixon, 88, of Martinsville, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Grandview Health & Rehabilitation Center in Martinsville.

He was born March 14, 1925, to Olie Dixon and Mattie (Janes) Dixon in Columbia, Ky. He married Naomi Stickler in 1948 and she preceded him in death.

Survivors include children, Guy "Ernie" (wife, Diana) Dixon of Martinsville, Mary Dixon of Shelbyville, Daryl Dixon of Michigan and Darlene (husband, Kevin) Rushowsky of Michigan; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren, sisters Ruby Catherine Schlosser and Edna Yeley, and brother Dallas Dixon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Lavonne Meyer; and granddaughter, Farica.

Mr. Dixon attended school in Shelbyville. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1945. In 1965 he moved to Michigan and worked for Ford Motor Company and ran an egg business. He resided in Irish Hills, Mich. most of his life. He last worked at Wismer Plumbing and Heating in Onsted, Mich.

Clarence enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman, loved wildlife and loved to hunt.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Home & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2013, at the funeral home with Robert Prather officiating.

Burial will be at the Heroes of Honor and Glory Veterans Garden at Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens in Shelbyville. Local veterans organizations will conduct military rites.

Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart H. Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mr. Dixon.
