Donald K. Oneal, 93, of Shelbyville, died June 20, 2013, at Heritage House Convalescant Center in Shelbyville.

He was born July 18, 1919, to Walter Oneal and Clara (Morris) Oneal in Indianapolis. He married Beverly Morris on August 23, 1938, and she survives.

Survivors include: son, Larry (Karen) Oneal of Plymouth, IN; daughter, Shannon (Dan) Foster of Cambridge City; grandsons, Travis (Linley) Oneal, Aaron (Ruth) Foster, Ryan (Hailey) Foster and Adam Foster; and great-grandson, Braxton Foster.

He was preceeded in death by father, Walter Oneal; mother, Clara (Morris) Oneal; daughter, Beth Ann Oneal; two sisters and two brothers.

Mr. Oneal graduated from Columbus High School in 1937 and attended Indiana University for a couple of years before he entered the U.S. Navy during World War II.

After his discharge from the U.S. Navy, he worked for Reeves Pulley in Columbus. Following that, he went to work for Naval Aviontics in Indianapolis, where he worked for 33 years as a processing engineer as he traveled extensively around the world. He also served as president of their credit union. Upon retirement, he began his automobile sales career at several car dealers over the next 10 years until he officially retired in 1985.

He was a member of the First Christian Church. He was a lifetime member of the Eagles Lodge #766, where he held all offices. He called bingo for 30 years and was also a member of the FOP American Legion, VFW Post #2695 and the Moose Lodge.

He found his joy in giving of his time through numerous service organizations. He was known as the “Quarter Man” to the kids in Shelbyville for always giving generously.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, June 24, 2013, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory with the Rev. William Horner officiating. Graveside military rites will be conducted by local veterans organizations. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart H. Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mr. Oneal.

Memorial contributions may be given to First Christian Church or The Salvation Army.

Our deepest sympathy to you Bev on the passing of Donald. Steve remembers so many fond times with his Uncle Donald. I met him just once but remember him as a sweet man. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

very sorry to hear about the lose of Don. He did have a great long life and you will always have memories. I remember the good times we had with your family and mine (Paul Gatten) during those rival years of sectional basketball. Don was a lot of fun and those kind of memories remain. God Bless you all.

Bev, I am am very sorry to hear about Dons passing.. he held a special place in my heart and I will miss his hugs... He was a sweet man..

Beverly, I just heard about Don's passing last week. If I had known, I would have attended his services. Don was my stepfather for a short time & I have only fond memories of him. He was always most kind. He lived a long life and was blessed to have you as his wife. You took such good care of him. God bless you.
