Merritt Estal Martin, 79, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Major Hospital.  He was born Nov. 14, 1933 to Merritt M. Martin and Evelyn (Ridley) Martin in Shelbyville.

He married Radine Tucker Oct. 23, 1960, and she preceded him in death Nov. 14, 2011.

Survivors include brothers, Lester Martin of Indianapolis, Walter "Pete" Martin of Florida and Sidney Martin of Florida; sister, Sarah Arrant of Costa Rica; and several neices and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Rosemary Drake and his brother, Robert Martin.

Mr. Martin was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.  He had worked at KT Corporation and retired from Indiana Cash Drawer.  His favorite pastime was fishing.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville.

Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Robert Prather officiating.

Burial will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Funeral directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart H. Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mr. Martin.

Uncle Merritt, you will be sadly missed each and every day. I will miss our talks and hugs and the laughter we shared.You are safe in gods arms and free from hurt and pain. I thank god for allowing me to have a great uncle as you. I love you...Karen and family
