Norma Jean Talbert, 78, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Major Hospital.
She was born Sept. 17, 1934, to Floyd Shaner and Ruby Phares Shaner in Shelbyville. She married Billie W. Talbert on May 5, 1954, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 1976.
Survivors include daughter, Marcia (husband, Sam) Reed of Shelbyville; son, Mark (wife, Shari) Talbert of Fort Wayne; granddaughter, Stephanie (husband, Matthew) Griffin; grandson, Sean Reed; granddaughter, Whitney (husband, Adam) Hug; grandson, Alex Talbert; brother, William (wife, Sue) Shaner of Shelbyville; and great-granddaughter, Ava Hug. Her second great-grandchild, a boy, is expected in February.
Mrs. Talbert was employed with General Electric/Wellman Furnaces, Inc. in Shelbyville and retired from there. She was a member of Grace Wesleyan Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed bowling and was a Colts fan. Her favorite pastime was attending her grandchildren's activities.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Harvey Weaver and the Rev. John Hundley officiating.
Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
