Ervin A. Keppel, 86 of Flat Rock, Indiana, died December 8, 2012, at his residence.
He was born in April 16, 1926, to John G. Keppel and Lora L (Fox) Keppel in Shelby County. He married Betty (Whitten) Sasher Keppel on August 13, 1979 and she survives.
Survivors include: sons, Richard (wife, Teresa) A. Keppel of Shelbyville, and Paul (wife, Linda) D. Keppel of Raliegh, N.C.; stepsons, William (wife, Bonnie) Sasher of Tennessee, Duane (wife, Cindy) Sasher of Waldron, and Mauri (wife, Sheila) Sasher of South Carolina; step-daughter, Linda (husband, Dale) Wright of Flat Rock; sisters, Evelyn Caldwell of Avon, Edna Weaver of Franklin, and Jean Keller of Avon; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nine step-children and 15 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by father, John Keppel; mother, Lora (Fox) Keppel; son, David Keppel; three sisters; six brothers; and one step-grandson.
He graduated from Waldron High School in 1945.
He was employed as a farmer, and also drove a truck for Spears Dairy for 27 years and was a delivery driver for Pioneer Seed for 20 years.
He loved his farming and animals. Family vacations were also important to him to share that quality family time with each other. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and they always came first.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 South Harrison Street, Shelbyville, with the Rev. Doug Keppel officiating. Burial will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Funeral directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart H. Parks are honored to perform the services for Mr. Keppel.
