Gerald David Branson, 76, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at his residence. He was born Aug. 25, 1936, in Shelby County to Orville and Ruth (Davis) Branson of Shelbyville.
He married Christine Branson, and she preceded him in death. He then married Nell Branson, and she preceded him in death in August 2005.
Survivors include sons, Danny (wife, Dee) Branson and Andy (wife, Karin) Branson, both of Shelbyville, and Timothy Branson, David Branson and Jeff Branson, all of St. Omer; daughters, Debbie Foster, Carmen Stroup and Beth (husband, Randy) Sturgill, all of Shelbyville, and Donna Alvey of Spencer, N.C.; stepson, Joe Banfield of Greenwood; twin brother, Harold Branson of Shelbyville; brothers, Bobby Branson of Little Marion and Tommy Branson of Morristown; sister, Dorothy McNeely of Shelbyville; 16 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; one sister; and his two wives.
Mr. Branson worked for Knauf Insulation and retired after 38 years. He was a member of Rays Crossing Christian Union Church since July 24, 2005.
He enjoyed fishing and playing cards and his dog, Toby.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Rays Crossing Christian Church, 2115 N 600 E, with the Rev. Gordon Heinrich officiating. Burial will be at Bennett Cemetery.
