Jesse Leonard Stone, 72, of Shelbyville, lost his battle with a rare blood disorder on October 10th, 2012. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family members.
Jesse was born February 6th, 1940 in Pike County, Indiana, to the late Carl Stone and Pauline Shafer Stone. He graduated from Petersburg High School in 1958 and joined the U.S. Army in April of 1959 and served through 1960 at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Jesse married Ronnette Kay Wilson on December 31st, 1962.
Jesse worked at John Sexton Food Company in Indianapolis and then joined Ford Motor Company in 1967 where he retired in 2004 after 37 years of employment.
He was active in several organizations including the UAW, New Palestine Masonic Lodge, Morristown Eastern Star, Morristown American Legion and Petersburg Moose Lodge.
Jesse was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan, he also enjoyed IU basketball and the Indianapolis Colts and traveling to Bristol, TN with his family to watch the Nascar Races. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Jesse is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kay Stone, daughter, Rebecca Stone and son Bryan (Sherri Gahimer) Stone all from Manilla, Indiana; grandsons, Brandon Stone, Dylan Stone and grand-daughter, Athena Stone Barrett. He is also survived by his sister, Charlotte (Jim) Miller; brothers, Kenny (Duffy) Stone, Terry (Brenda) Stone and Ron Stone all residing in Pike County, Indiana, Larry (Rosemary) Stone of Bellville, IL and David (Jody) Stone of Indianapolis, IN.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 14, 2012, from 4 pm to 8 pm at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville. Masonic Rites will be recited at 7 pm on Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Monday, October 15, 2012 at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens & Crematory, Shelbyville.
