Anna Louise (Wonnell) Hayes Murphy, 80, of Shelbyville, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at St. Francis Health in Indianapolis.

She was born Oct. 16, 1931, in Hendricks County to James A. Wonnell and Eliza Catherine Etter. She married John R. Hayes on Oct. 22, 1954, and he preceded her in death in 1983. She married Duane R. Murphy on Dec. 1, 1989, and he survives in Shelbyville.

Other survivors include a son, Rick (wife, Jennifer) Hayes of LaGrange, Ill.; granddaughters, Courtney Hayes and Sarah Hayes, both of LaGrange, Ill.; brother, Dr. James J. Wonnell of Palm City, Fla.; and step-daughters, Patricia (husband, Don Blamberg) Murphy of Woodstock, Md., and Anne Murphy of Indianapolis.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Hayes; and a brother, Thomas Wonnell.

Anna graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1949, and attended Ancilla College and Butler University.

She retired as office manager at Clifton Gunderson LLP in Indianapolis.

Anna attended First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville. She was president of the SHS Booster Club and a member of PEO, AAUW and a past member of Tri Kappa. She also had been a member and chairwoman of the Shelby County Health Commission in the mid-1980s.

She was a loyal Purdue University sports fan, and a member of the John Purdue Club for 35 years. She also was president of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity Mothers Club.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, 34 W. Washington St., with the Rev. Bob Campbell and Pastor Reid Walker officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blue River Community Foundation Scholarship Fund or the Purdue Foundation.
