Flossie M. Shepperd, 78, of Fairland died Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Major Hospital.
Born July 16, 1933, in New Castle, she was the daughter of Elmer and Rose (Lawson) Cooper. She married Bobie D. “Don” Shepperd on July 29, 1953, in Somerset, Ky., and he survives.
Other survivors include daughter, Pamela (John) Coomer of Fairland; son, Steve Shepperd (companion, Monica Wilson) of Fairland; brother, Leroy (Judy) Cooper of Franklin; sisters, Mary Gomez of Franklin, Dorothy (Roy) Henderson of Greenwood and Marie Melendez of Manassas, Va.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Shepperd had lived in the Fairland area since 1955 and is a graduate of Clark Township School in Johnson County.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Shepperd was a member of Fairland Baptist Church, Order of Eastern Star No. 359 in Fairland and the Double Y Saddle Club.
Flossie loved gardening and watching hummingbirds. She enjoyed horseback riding, oil painting and being with her grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Fairland Baptist Church, 102 S. Meridian St. in Fairland.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. John Alexander officiating.
Burial will be in Fairland Cemetery in Fairland.
