David T. Collins, 73, of Shelbyville died Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
Born July 1, 1938, in Shelby County, he was the son of Earnest and Ava Berneice (Holmes) Collins. He married Carol Sue Coulston in May of 1964.
Survivors include son, Timothy David Collins of Shelby County; daughter, Kimberly Sue Collins-Ross of Shelby County; grandchildren, Ashley Watson, Amber Collins and Devin, Amanda and Brandon Ross; great-grandchildren, Gracie and Addyson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Mr. Collins attended Morristown High School and was a veteran of Indiana National Guard.
He had worked for KCL Corp. 30 years.
David’s precious grandchildren were the light of his life.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens, with graveside military rites conducted by local veterans organizations.

Sue, Tim, and Kim ...
I was saddened to hear that Dave had passed, but I understand what you must have gone through the last few years. When I talked to him briefly last year I could sense something was not quite right. He was the last of the Collins generations that I grew up with. Now I'm the oldest of the current generation! I'll always remember Dave for three things: my Marlin 39A rifle (that I still use) because I had to have one just like Uncle Dave's, his Black and Red '59 Chevy convertible that I used to help him wash so he'd take me for a ride, and his roller skating.
