Martha Ann Walton, 81, of Shelbyville died Monday, March 12, 2012 at Heritage House of Shelbyville.

Born Oct. 9, 1930, in Fairland, she was the daughter of Tellace J. and Martha Ann (Medsker) Rhodes. She married Denzil Otto Walton Sr. on June 18, 1949, and he preceded her in death on May 21, 2004.

Survivors include daughters, Jane (Henry) Jones of Sarasota, Fla., Teresa (Jeff) Patrick of New Castle and Linda (Paul) Stevens, Sue (Don) Decker and Mary McDonald, all of Shelbyville; sons, Denzil (Sharon) Walton Jr. of Shelbyville and Thomas (Jeannie) Walton of Columbus; sister, Marie Rhodes of Milan; 22 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Timothy Walton; and a grandson, Mark Shane Walton.

Mrs. Walton was a homemaker and a foster parent to eight children.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and of St. Anne's Altar Society.

Martha enjoyed playing cards.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 14th, at Murphy Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 15th, at the funeral home, with Father Aaron Pfaff officiating.

Burial will be in the St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Cemetery in Shelby County.

To the Walton Families, As some of you knew me , I am sending my condolences to Martha. She was a very sweet lady. Welcoming me into her home when I spend the night with Mary. She will be miss. RIP Martha
