Juanita Joan Carr, 73, of Shelbyville passed away Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Born Feb. 8, 1938, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of Joe and Minnie (Batts) Bradley. She married Martin "Bud" Carr on April 22, 1960, with the Rev. James Huffman officiating at St. Joseph Catholic Church, and he survives.

Other survivors include daughter, Cindy Dean of Shelbyville; sons, Brad (Sheri) Carr of Rochester, N.Y., and Ron Carr of Lafayette; grandchildren, Jennifer Dean of Shelbyville and Cameron Carr and Elena Carr, both of Rochester; sisters, Debbie (Bill) Beville of Shelbyville and Shirley Runnebohm of Rushville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law, Martin Carr Sr.; and her mother-in-law, Joan Carr.

Mrs. Carr worked as office manager for Western-Southern Life Insurance for 25 years.

She was a charter member of the Eagles Auxiliary and a member of Tri Kappa Sorority and belonged to several card clubs.

Mrs. Carr attended the Evangelical United Church of Christ, where she served as secretary-treasurer of the Triple L class.

Juanita loved traveling, riverboating, Purdue basketball and football and spending time with friends. She was a 23-year survivor of breast cancer and a loving mother and grandmother.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Linda Frische-Mouri officiating.

Burial will be in Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions honoring Juanita may be made to Hospice of Shelby County or Evangelical United Church of Christ, in care of Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville IN 46176.
