Lillian Idona McComas, 86, passed into the hands of Jesus on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at Summer Trace Assisted Living, in Carmel. Visitation will be at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., in Shelbyville on Wednesday, Sept. 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with services following at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Born June 18, 1925, in Shelbyville, she was one of 10 children born to Jasper and Mary Hogue. Lillian was a loving, caring person who was a wife, mother and homemaker her entire life. Caring for her family, preparing meals (especially homemade noodles), singing, laughing and being with Charlie are the things she loved. Shelbyville was home for most of her life. She and Charlie traveled extensively throughout the western U.S. and had many adventures. Upon retirement, they moved to Cape Coral, Fla., where they lived for several years before returning to Indiana and living in Fishers. She lived the last few years of her life with Charlie in Carmel. It is with deep, bittersweet sorrow that we say goodbye.

Lillian leaves behind her beloved husband, Charlie (Charles). They married Aug. 3, 1941, and shared their lives for nearly 70 years. Their love for each other will last forever. Other surviving family members are brother, Jasper Hogue Jr.; daughters, Judy Elizabeth (husband, John) Carmody of Homosassa, Fla., and Patricia Jean (husband, Jim) May of Fallbrook, Calif.; and son, Charles Rodney (wife, Jayme) McComas of Carmel. She was preceded in death by daughter Susan Jane (husband, Jerry) Lagle of Fort Wayne.

Grandchildren are Chris Sheneman of Hamilton, Ohio; Lisa Praetzel of Lakeside, Mont.; John Sheneman of Apple Valley, Minn.; Andy Pierce of Torrance, Calif.; Mandy Pierce of Anaheim Hills, Calif.; Cammie Griffith of Pittsboro; and Andrea McComas of Carmel; along with 10 great-grandchildren.

Deceased siblings are four sisters, Elva Wharton, Dorothy Broadbeck, Frances Thompson and Hazel Limp; and four brothers, Leonard Hogue, Clifford Hogue, Bill Hogue and Ray Hogue.

Lillian's family greatly thanks the staff of Summer Trace Assisted Living for their thoughtful care and compassion.
