Larry Fairchild, 63, of Shelbyville died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at his residence.

Born March 8, 1948, in Rush County, he was the son of Charles E. and Lucille (Whitfield) Fairchild, who preceded him in death.

Survivors include daughters, Janet (Jay) Bennett of Shelbyville and Bobbie (Todd) Lindsey of St. Paul; grandchildren, Jay, Jonathon, Jessica and Joshua Calab Bennett and Jacob and Emerson Lindsey; and one sister.

Mr. Fairchild was employed by Trane in Rushville for several years, then worked at Walmart.

Larry always took pride in his grandchildren; otherwise, fishing and NASCAR were his hobbies.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelby Community Health Center or Heartland Hospice in care of Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville IN 46176.

I worked with Larry at Trane many years ago. He was a hard worker and would do what he had to do to get the job done. He also had a good since of humor and was always ready to pull a joke on someone.

I was a classmate of Larry's at Carthage. My sympathy and condolences to all of Larry's family
