Richard E. "Dick" Weaver, 67, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2013, in Shelbyville.
He was born May 27, 1946, to Earl Lewis Weaver Jr. and Helen Mae (Burnes) Weaver in Shelbyville. He married Rita A. (King) Weaver Oct. 27, 1983, and she survives in Shelbyville.
Other survivors include his mother; four children, Cassandra (husband, Robin) Sommers of Austin, Texas, Cary Weaver and Christopher Weaver, both of Franklin and Sarah Benefiel of Shelbyville; six grandchildren, Riley and Gillian Sommers, Jackson and Henry Weaver, and Coty and Brenna Weaver; six nephews; four nieces; brother, Robert E. (wife, Kathy) Weaver of Shelbyville; sister, Phyllis E. (husband, Ronnie) Scott of Sullivan; and beloved companion, Maddy.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Lewis Edwin Weaver.
Mr. Weaver graduated from Southwestern High School in 1964. He farmed for 12 years in Shelby and Rush Counties. He was employed by the former Kiel Bros. Oil Co. of Columbus for 28 years and then Lewis Transport for four years as a driver and area representative.
Mr. Weaver served in the National Guard.
He was a member of Bengal Christian Church, where he served as a past deacon and trustee. He was a past member of the Moose Lodge #2118 and American Legion Post #70. He enjoyed camping and boating. In recent time he very much enjoyed spending time with and having lunch with his Lunch Gang.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2013, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at the funeral home with the Rev. Bryan Trotter officiating.
Burial will be at Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens in Shelbyville.
