Deaton, Roger Dean, age 67 of Gratis, OH passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Sycamore Hospital with his family by his side. Roger was born August 31, 1947 in Jackson , KY to his late parents Leonard and Juanita (Gabbard) Deaton. Upon graduation of Twin Valley South he worked for Aeronca for over 20 years, He later retired from the Federal Aviation Administration where he received a Presidential Award among other achievements for his outstanding service.
     On Nov. 2, 1965 Roger married Peggy Fraley and together they had 2 children, Jeff and Kim. Roger was an active member of the Gratis United Methodist Church. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, golfing and watching UK basketball. He will be greatly missed.
    Roger is Survived by his wife Peggy Deaton of 49 years, son Jeff (Anita) Deaton, daughter Kim (Donnie) Deaton, and granddaughter Stephanie (Michael) Miller, grandsons Bryan Miller and Jared Deaton, great-grandson Logan. He is also survived by sister Beverly Shindeldecker (late Bill Shindeldecker), brothers Gary (Brenda) Deaton, Mike (Brenda) Deaton and Chris Deaton, Brother-in-laws Don Watts, Ricky (Vicki) Fraley, Scott (Janis) Fraley, sister-in-law Linda (Phil) Bryant, Connie (Ramin) Garcia, and Vicky (Steve) Siegal, lifelong friends Darrell (Annette) Watts, Ken (Terry) Watts and the late Sam  (Sue) Schreiber and special neighbors Harvey and Heather Campbell and Bob and Donna Krause. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff of the Sycamore Hospital. Visitation will be held at the Gratis United Methodist Church in Gratis, OH from 5:00-8:00 P.M. on Monday, August 31, 2015. Funeral services are Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at the Gratis United Methodist Church at 1:00 P.M. with burial in Fairview Cemetery to follow. Lindloff-Zimmerman is in charge of Arrangements. It is so very sad to say goodbye to such a wonderful person. But it helps to know that he is in heaven and that his battle is over. And we know that we will all see him again. Peggy, we are here for you. We love you and all you need to do is pick up the phone and we will be there. We love you all.
