AKERS, Helen C., age 90, of Gratis, OH. died Sat. Feb. 8, 2014 in Eaton.  She was born in Middletown, OH. on Oct. 25, 1923 to Vergil and Anna (Jones) Hawkins.  She was a graduate of West Elkton High School.  Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Vernice Akers in 1991.  She was a member of Gratis United Methodist Church.  She is survived by 3 sons, Mike (Charlotte) Akers, Eaton, OH., Jeff  Akers, Melbourne, FL., Randy (Chris) Akers, Virginia Beach, VA., 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, Martha Pierson, West Elkton, OH., Gladys (Henry) Schraub, Middletown, OH., Rebecca (Willie) White, Leesburg, FL. Also deceased were her parents, a brother, Vergil Hawkins Jr., and sisters, Patricia Garrett, Virginia Gullo and Mary Hollenbaugh.  Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Thurs. Feb. 13, 2014 at Gratis United Methodist Church, Gratis, OH. with Rev. Gary Wood officiating.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.  Friends may call at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral home in Gratis on Wed. evening from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.  and from 9:30 to 10:30A.M. at the church on Thurs.
