Carl Anton Schoettler, 91, Boscobel, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Fennimore.
He was born on September 11, 1928 in Kaukauna, WI, the son of Otto and Melda (nee Graef) Schoettler.
He married Eleanor Sanger of Boscobel in August of 1950; she preceded him in death on July 10, 2018.
Carl graduated from high school in Appleton, WI in 1946 and enlisted in the Marine Corps that same year.  He was stationed in Guam and China until the end of World War II.  After discharge he enlisted in the USMC Reserves and attended the UW Madison School of Engineering.  He was recalled to active duty because of the Korean Conflict.  In order to complete his studies at UW Madison he transferred to the Army Reserve ROTC program.  He graduated from UW Madison with a mechanical engineering degree and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the regular Army.  He was stationed at Fort Belvoir, in Virginia with the Army Corps of Engineering.
After completing his tour of duty there he was discharged and went to work for the General Motors Corporation working in their Indiana and Arkansas auto manufacturing plants.  Carl then went to work for the Outboard Marine Corporation in Waukegan, IL until his retirement in 1989.  Upon retirement he and his wife Eleanor retired to Cape Coral, FL., where they lived for 20 years before moving back to Boscobel in 2009.
Carl was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Boscobel.
He is survived by two sons, David (Robin Orlandi) Schoettler of Boscobel and John (Janet) Schoettler of Kenosha and a daughter, Ann (John) Burnett of Normal, IL, a sister-in-law, Kathy Larson of Illinois,  7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a brother, James Schoettler, a sister, Mary Peterson, and a brother-in-law, James Larson.
A private burial will be in the Boscobel Cemetery with a memorial service to be held at a later date.   The Kendal Funeral Home of Boscobel is assisting the family.  Online condolences can be made at www.kendallfuneralservice.com

Want to let you know I am thinking of all of you at this time. I loved your mom and dad with all my heart. They always made me feel like family. I will miss them dearly.
