Aloysius P. "AP" Zinkle, age 88 of Boydtown passed away on Sunday June 23, 2019 at Gundersen Health Care in Boscobel.  He was born on December 2, 1930 in Crawford County, Wisconsin.  The son of Aloysius and Gertrude (Schmidt). He was a Navy Veteran of the Korea Conflict.  He  married Katherine Brownlee on July 12, 1952, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Boscobel.  He is survived by his wife Katherine "Katie" Zinkle of Wauzeka. His children; Aloysius P. (Sheila) Zinkle of Wauzeka, Thomas Zinkle of Wauzeka, Sandra (Mike) Dickman of Wauzeka, Steven (Teresa) Zinkle of Knoxville Tenn., Rebecca (Mark) Mayhew of Macon Mo., Debra Arnold of Wauzeka, Thomas Zinkle Jr. of Wauzeka, Natosha Zinkle & Joe McCullick both of Seneca, Ryan (Christy) Zinkle of Mt. Horeb. 16 Grandchildren, 26 Great-Grandchildren . One brother: Jerry (Kathi) Zinkle of Carnation Wash., One sister: Jeanne Neis of Plano Texas. A sister in law: Susan Zinkle of Steuben. Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Bob, David, Bill, and Dick Zinkle. Three sisters: Dianne Bird, Lois McKendry, Eileen Groom, along with an infant.

A.P. loved outdoor activities, from the farm, to the woods, to the fields and the river. When he could take a break from farming, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with family. The Wisconsin river was often an outlet for family fun - waterskiing, boating and tubing. The farm always had an assortment of motorcycles, ATVs, and trucks. A.P. could drive a tractor all day.

A.P believed in giving back to the community as an avid supporter of local organizations and causes. He served many years as a Wauzeka school board President, President of the Crawford County Sheriff’s Posse, President of Boydtown Cemetery committee, a councilman on the Marietta Township board, fire marshal and Knights of Columbus councilman. He was known for his performances with the Irish Tabernacle Choir, the Blarney Stones, and the church choir. A.P. bowled in a couple’s league and men’s bowling league, still going at age 88. One of A.P.’s greatest passions was music. He hummed, whistled, sang, and played guitar. He could dance a mean polka and taught all his daughters and grand-daughters how to waltz. A.P. was an excellent cook and a jack of all trades - he continued to learn throughout his life. His primary focus was on family. A.P. accepted every person as they were, had the ability to see the best in each, and always had time to help or give advice. He has set an example for all and will be remembered as everyone he met carries a piece of his positive energy with them. Love forever, rest in peace.

Dear Becky and Family, You have my deepest sympathy on the death of your father. I remember him so well as a very friendly man who always, along with your mom, Katie, made me feel welcome in your home when we were kids in high school. I know how much he loved music just like my dad did. My thoughts are with you all. Lucy
