Music by The Piano Brothers

Eleanor Sanger Schoettler of Boscobel, age 88, died on Monday, July 10, 2018 at Grant Regional Hospital.

She was born to Ottmar and Gladys (nee Pinfold) Sanger on August 5, 1929.  Eleanor married Carl Schoettler in August of 1950.

She attended Boscobel schools and graduated from the Boscobel High School in 1947.  She attended the Madison General School of Nursing, receiving her R.N in 1950.  She worked as a nurse in numerous positions.  She moved with her husband and three children, living in Wisconsin, Virginia, Indiana, Arkansas, Illinois, and Florida, returning to Boscobel in 2008.

She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boscobel in her youth and returned there after an absence of 60 years.

She loved music and the church choir wherever they resided.  She was a homemaker, seamstress, knitter, crotchetier, and did many handicraft projects.  To nurture her family and anyone else in need was an important part of her life.  Everyone she met became a friend. She was a loving and devoted partner to her husband and children.

Eleanor is survived by her husband, Carl, two sons, David (Robin Orlandi) of Boscobel and John (Janet) of Kenosha, a daughter Ann (John) Burnett of Normal, Illinois, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson, a sister Kathy Larson of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, aunts and uncles, brothers-in-law James Schoettler and James Larson, and a sister-in-law Mary Petersen.

A memorial service is to be held at a later date.

Memorials can be made to the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Boscobel.

Our condolences to Eleanor's Family. What a wonderful woman! The week before her parting, my son and I spent some time talking and singing songs with her. She was smiling and enjoying singing along. Funny how people who love to sing can retain words and sing right along to favorites. We will miss her and how she would say" We're related!" She has been set free from the bondage of this world and in company!
