Daniel E. "Dan" Carlin, age 81, of Mt. Zion, passed away on Sunday December 3, 2017, at University Hospital in Madison. He was born on May 23, 1936 in Boscobel.  He is the son of Bartley and Helen (Hines) Carlin. He married Joyce Baumgartner on June 13, 1959 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Boscobel.  He was full blooded Irish and had the wit, charm, and humor to prove it.  He farmed most of his life, but also was President of the Crawford County NFO. Served on the Crawford County FHA Board and Boscobel Fire Department.  He is survived by his wife Joyce Carlin of Boscobel.  Two sons: Tom (Cheryl) Carlin of Boscobel, Kevin Carlin and Chris Glasbrenner both of Boscobel. One daughter, Marcia (James) Erickson of Boscobel. Nine grandchildren, Dana Krachtt (Noah)- Trevor Erickson, Brianne Erickson, Sierra and Cheyanne Carlin, Shaeden, Brennan, Skyler and Easton Carlin.  Three Great-Grandchildren Keaton, Oliver and Elliott Krachtt.  All or any one of them would make his day when they came to visit.  He was also very proud of his nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter Linda Lee Carlin, five brothers Francis, Robert, Ernest, Hubert, and Bartley Jr. Carlin.  One sister Helen Bailey.

Funeral  services will be held on Friday December 8, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Kendall Funeral Home in Boscobel.  Pastor Jean Bartlett officiating.  Burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery rural Boscobel.  Friends may call on Thursday December 7, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Kendall Funeral Home in Boscobel, and  Friday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home.  Online condolences can be sent to www.kendallfuneralhome.com

My deepest sympathies to you and your entire family! Dan was such a sweet, sweet person who always had a smile on his face and twinkle in his eye, even on his worst days. He will surely be missed by so many!
