Leonard Paul Brewer, 59 of Boscobel, was reunited with his parents on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 after a courageous battle against cancer. He was born July 28, 1958 to Paul & Mary Brewer of Boscobel. Leonard is survived by his loving wife, Lesa, (and faithful dog, Grizz) of Boscobel; daughter, Jasmine (Nick) Ratas, of Grafton, WI; son, Jerrett Brewer, of Spring Green; stepdaughters: Renae (Ted) Krause of Muscoda, Amanda Puckett of Boscobel, and Daylene (Jason) Long of Gays Mills; sister, Linda Brewer (Dale Lavelle), of Fitchburg, brother, Bob (Theresa) Brewer, of Boscobel; 10 grandchildren who he adored: David, Naedene, Austin, Chris, Tayden, Irim, Iasia, Kindohl, Gavin and Tenae; nieces: Jada (Chris) Hrubes, Jessica Brewer; nephews: Josh (Paris Fobbe) Lavelle and Ben Lavelle; and many other special friends, cousins, and extended family members.
Leonard loved to spend time with family and friends. He was an avid hunter who spent many weeks in Wyoming and Montana in search of his trophy buck and taking in the beauty of the Wild West. In recent years Leonard and his wife spent many weekends camping with close friends Punk and Becky Hardy and making jerky with George and Kathy Wallin. Leonard also spent a lot of time reading western novels and watching John Wayne movies with his wife.
The family would like to say a special thank you to all friends and family members who helped out during the last couple years as Leonard fought his battle. We are forever grateful for your support. The family would also like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and staff at Gundersen Hospital in La Crosse who assisted Leonard. They are an extremely compassionate team. Leonard’s sense of humor never diminished during his fight; he continued to tease and pull pranks on the hospital associates throughout the entire process.
A celebration of Leonard’s life will be held at the Kendall Funeral Service, 209 Mary Street, Boscobel on Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Online condolences may be offered at www.kendallfuneralservice.com.

To those who mourn the loss of Leonard,
I have not seen Leonard since 1974 or so, but I have a clear memory of his humor. We were in Ag class together, when he was a Sophmore and I was a Senior. Needless to say, I was a novelty for the class of 10th grade boys. Leonard, and his friend, I cannot remember right now, were quick to give me shit.
I can quickly feel the irritation I felt when he called me "Horse". This referred to my Senior picture with my horse, Queen, also a novelty for many. I was so shy and unable to give any response, I became concerned that I really looked like a horse.
I also recall the attention of the class, Mr. Glassbrenner, and esp art teacher, Mr. Brown, when I fried up Rocky Mountain Oysters in the classroom. I am sure Leonard had something to say about that, but I was concentrating on my cooking and not burning the 'nuts'.
May my condolence be appreciated as a gesture of honoring Leonard with an almost sweet, but funny memory.

Lesa, Bob & family,
I am very sad to have heard this news. Leonard was a great friend.
I always think of the " good ole days " at Crawford County at Boo and Gregs. Playing euchre and drinking beers! Leonard was a great man and tons of fun to be around.
He will be missed a lot.

Granddaughter Jasmine,
Lorice said it perfectly in her Blog tribute to you and your father.
God did choose you to be Nick's life mate and be an irreplaceable part of our family. Jasmine, you bless and complete our family in so many ways. From the beginning, it seemed as though you had always been in our family.
I Thank God Almighty that He knew where you were; and at the perfect moment; brought you to Nick and our crazy, loving family.
I Praise God for your family that cared, nurtured, and perfectly prepared you to become Nicholas's wife and become a loving, giving, thoughtful
part of our family. I love you like you always were my granddaughter.
My father loved me unconditionally. When he died, I felt I would never know that kind of love again. To this day, I miss his blue eyes and his one-of-a-kind humor and love of pranks.
Jasmine, your father is a part of your life - into Eternity.
I love the memory of your Dad and his brother building the fire grill in your backyard -we had so much fun that day. Nick will always treasure the times with your Dad and family. Your Dad was also Nick's Dad.

Heaven gained another 'good one' with Leonard's passing and I know there was a multitude of family waiting to welcome him with lots of hugs and kisses.
My love and prayers for the Brewer and Elliott families as you grieve and continue to hold him in your memories and your hearts.
Jarrett, had I realized Leonard was your dad when you were in high school (and friends with Jason), we would have had lots more to talk about. Hugs to you kiddo!

So sad to hear of the passing of Leonard Paul Brewer from Boscobel. We lived in a house next to Paul and Mary Brewer when they first got married. They living in a tiny house behind the Baures/Penelton House and we living behind the Will Zimpel house. My mother is/was Betty (Zimpel) Cohen. Leonard was the spitting image of Paul. Maybe his dad had thicker glasses. Mary was all so funny and great to be around. Linda Brewer was a great sister as well. Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss.
