I hadn't seen Ernie in ages but remember him as a young man. He went to church in Barnum and I was his Sunday School teacher for a time. He had a quick mind and was a very good kid. Know his siblings and wish to extend my sympathy to you all.

My sincere condolences to all Ernie's family. I was a classmate in grade school. We hung around a bit and Ernie was a nice friend. We never got into trouble...

Colson Family,
My discovery of Ernest's obituary has resurrected multiple memories of not only Mary, BHS classmate, but of your whole family. I feel deep sorrow, but also an overwhelming memory of deep respect for your family. As most likely common in Ernest's life, most of my memories regard his three deceased brothers.
I remember Daniel, his shoes and his hair. I don't remember any meanness, anger or resentment that would have been reasonable in light of the hard times. I remember the confusion and sadness when I found out he drowned with his two brothers. I have always believed he died while trying to rescue his brothers. They had walked off the end of a sand bar below the Manhattan Club.
To this day, everytime I cross the Boscobel Bridge, I slightly nod when passing the area that the Colson brothers drowned.
i write this, not to cause more grief, but to let you know that I will forever respect and honor your family.
