Margaret Pauline (Vaidel) Fiedler, age 100 of Platteville and formerly of Boscobel, Wisconsin died on Friday January 13, 2017 at Southwest Health Center in Platteville.  In accordance with Margaret's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held.  Her cremains will be interred at a later date in Elcho, Wisconsin.
Born in Chicago, Illinois August 7, 1916.  she grew up there, married, raised two sons and returned  to school.  Margaret always dreamed of a nursing career and realized her dream when she became an L.P.N..  She loved working in hospitals, a Doctor's office and eventually the Nursing Home in Boscobel.
After retirement, at age 67, she volunteered and was accepted into the Peace Corps.  Margaret served two  memorable years in Guatemala teaching nutrition and loving the country and it's people.
Among her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, reading, stamp collecting, scrabble and other puzzles.  Travel and learning were important to her and she participated in fifty Elderhostel programs.  Her travels led to her to more than twenty five countries.  She particularly enjoyed the out -of-way-spots.
Margaret was active at the Senior Center in Boscobel.  She participated in the exercise program which she continued later in life and took great interest in the Center's Variety Show which was produced yearly.
Surviving Margaret are two sons Russell J. Fiedler of Honolulu Hi. Kenneth L. Fiedler of Hazel Green. Two grandchildren : Kendall Holmes and April Fiedler; Twelve Great grandchildren; eleven great great  grandchildren;  several nieces and nephews; a special friend  and pen pal for forty years Susan Glinsman of  Barrington Ill.
Preceding Margaret in death were her parents, Joseph and Amelia (Simonides) Vaidel; step father, George Kuka; former husband Russell  Fiedler, grandsons Kenneth and Michael Fiedler, sisters Edith Vaidel and Emma Cegielski. a daughter in law Betty Fiedler.

I remember your mother from the Boscobel Library book club. She always had so much to add because of all of her life experiences.
