Rayone A. Smith, age 83, of Coon Valley and formerly of Fennimore, passed away on Saturday October 1, 2016 at the Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua.  She was born on November 12, 1932 in Manchester Iowa.  The daughter of Hurless and Ione (Williams) Bankes.  She married Darrell Smith on August 27, 1953 in LaCrosse. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2004. Rayone lived her entire life in the southwestern Wisconsin area.  She brought many things to the community, including starting the Yard and Yarn shop in Fennimore in the 1970's (which grew from her love of quilting and sewing) and operating the Surplus Sales business in Boscobel  for years.                         She is survived by a son Michael (Barbara) Smith of Loveland Ohio. A daughter Karen (Dennis) Cooley of Wauzeka. Four grandchildren: Ben (Janelle) Jones of Ithaca , Angela (Robert) Sailer of Wauzeka, Evan (Lindsey) Smith of Loveland Ohio, Rachel (David) Weaver of Battle Creek Michigan. Six great-grandchildren Keegan Jones, Kannon Jones, Lochland Sailer, Emiland Sailer, Ethan Smith, Emily Weaver. A brother Richard (Judy) Bankes of Cincinnati Ohio. Four sisters Bonita (John) Henderson of Great-Falls Montana  ,Deborah Bankes of Alpena Michigan ,Pamela  (Dean) Bennett of Great-Falls Montana , Rebecca Bankes of Alpena  Michigan.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
Rayone was  very positive and was  always able to fight through adversity. Most recently found in her notes was an expression and also her philosophy "always remember that you are braver than you realize, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think, and loved more than you know".
