Betty A. Bender, age 79 of Woodman, passed away on Friday February 19, 2016 at the Atrium Post Acute Care Center in Lancaster.  Betty was born on April 23, 1936 in Boscobel Wisconsin.  The daughter of Henry and Lorraine (Blanchard) Achenbach.  She married  Virgil Bender  on September 3, 1954 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Boscobel.  He preceded her in death on May 1, 2004.  They farmed  all their married life in Woodman Township.  Betty enjoyed cooking and baking and loved her garden. Virgil and Betty  owned and operated the Sears Catalog store  and Laundromat for 15 years.  They also owned and operated the Manhattan Club in Boscobel.  She served   actively on the Boscobel School Board for a number of years. Betty was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Boscobel.  Betty served as Town clerk for Woodman Township for 30 Years.

Betty is survived by a son John (Ruby) Bender of Woodman.  Four grandchildren: Scott (Chrisit) Aaron (Kate) Andrew (Alisha) and Cera.  Two great-grandchildren: Layden and Jackson. A daughter in law: Connie Bender of Boscobel.  She was preceded n death by her parents . A daughter: Barbara. Son's James, Joseph, Michael and Mark Bender. A grandson Matthew Bender.

According to Betty's wishes a private memorial graveside service will be held at a later date, in the Boscobel Cemetery. Pastor Charles Koester officiating..  The Kendall Funeral Service in Boscobel is assisting the family.  Online condolence can be sent to www.kendallfuneralservice.com

So sorry of Betty's passing. She was a wonderful lady who always made me laugh !!!! We miss her so much at Atrium !! My sympathy to Cera and family.

sorry to hear about the lost of Betty. she was a very nice person. she will be missed by many. our prayers go out to all family members.
