Joan K. Walz, age 70, of Boscobel, passed away on Tuesday June 23, 2015 at her daughter's home in Mineral Point, surround by her family.  She was born on November 27, 1944 in Steuben.  The daughter of Leon "Red" and Catherine (Kielley) Hazel.

Joan graduated from Wauzeka High School in 1963.  She went on to continue her education in nursing, starting out as a nurses aid, then LPN, and finally graduating with her BSN in nursing from Viterbo College in 1995, all while working and raising two daughters. She worked for many years at Boscobel Hospital with the final 10 years of her career as a hospice nurse.  She touched many lives throughout her almost 50 year nursing career.

She was a compassionate, caring, patient person, who put the needs of others ahead of her own.  She was a woman of strong faith, who  served God.  She always had a sense of humor.  She loved being a nurse, traveling and spending time and spoiling her grandsons.  She made the best pancake's and  taught her grandson how to drive.  She always had an open door for any animal in need.  She was a great-friend to many and had  many great friends. She was a loving mother and grandma. We love you and miss you.

She is survived by two daughters; Lori (Gary) Miller of Mineral Point, Konie Walz (Lennie Jones) both of Boscobel. Two grandsons Brandin and Benjamin Walz both of Boscobel. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be held on Monday June 29, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Boscobel.  Pastor Stan Pegram officiating.  Burial in the Boscobel cemetery at a later date.  Friends may call on Sunday June 28, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Kendall Funeral Home in Boscobel and at the church on Monday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service . Joan,

Just thinking back to all of the good times on our weekends and the shifts that we worked together. You did teach me to not take life so seriously and that things are going to happen no matter what! Some things are out of our control. Rest in Peace my dear friend. Your friend, Julie

Joan was as close as a mom to me when growing up. Having lost my mother at an early age, she helped fill that void during that time when I was growing up. She had done a lot for me and I am Thankful to have had the opportunity to have her in my life.
God Bless.

Dear Lori and Koni,

We are so sorry for the loss to you and the family. Joan and I had so many memories, and one of those memories was how much she loved you two. That love will sustain you through the grief. I feel so bad that we were not able to make it to the funeral, but our hearts are grieving with you. Your Mom was one awesome women, and will be forever missed.

Any time I saw Joan she was smiling. She loved her family and loved those grandsons. Joan
came out to my parents a few times to help with my mom, she even gave me some tips
on some thins for me to do to make things easier to care for mom. I was so grateful for that. My thoughts and prayers go out to you at this time
