Camilla A. Lathrop, age 80 of Boscobel passed away on Sunday December 28, 2014 at the Boscobel Care and Rehab in Boscobel. She was born on June 24, 1934 in Crawford County Wisconsin.  The daughter of Donald and Irene (Reed) O'Connell. She married Robert Lathrop on April 27, 1953 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on October 6, 2001.​

Camilla an Identical twin grew up the oldest of 12 children in a farming family.  What they ate, they either raised, grew or caught.  She learned how to bake bread & knit from a German Lady that she was live-in help for.  Her bread, buns, blankets, sweaters, scarfs, mittens, dishcloths and personalized Christmas stockings were later cherished by the entire family.  By the age of 18 she was teaching 12 grades in a 1 room school house.  She continued to teach after marrying Bob.  When the fifth child was born, she decided to devote more time to family and the farm  When the children were older, she took a job as a guide for the Villa Louis in Prairie du Chien.  Later she was a librarian at the Wauzeka schools.  After Bob retired from farming, they moved to Boscobel .  Camilla was active in the church, volunteered at the elementary school reading program and completed genealogies for her and Bob's families.  She loved her daily walks, cryptoquote  puzzles and always had a garden to tend in the summer.  Camilla spent her life knitting together a legacy of faith and family .  She was much loved greatly appreciated and an inspiration to all that knew her.  Alzheimer's has taker her life, but she lives on in each of our hearts.





​ She is survived by four sons; Roger (Betty) Lathrop of Alta Vista Kansas, Rodney (Addie) Lathrop of Hartford Wisconsin, Robert (Janet) Lathrop of  Ettrick Wisconsin, and Richard (Sheri) Lathrop of Sussex Wisconsin. Three daughters; Rita Martin of Palmyra Wisconsin, Judy (Willard) Ray of Boscobel, Susan (Tim) Powers of Black Earth. 29 Grandchildren, 32 Great-Grandchildren, 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren.  5 Brothers; Edward (Barb) O'Connell of Eastman, Bernard O'Connell of Prairie du Chien, Donald (Rose) O'Connell of East Troy, Michael O'Connell of Waupaca Wi., Hugh (Lynn) O'Connell of Cuba City. 5 Sisters;  Identical Twin sister: Armilla Hilger of Fennimore , Elaine (Donald) Ostrander of Weyauwega Wi., Kay (Forrest) Walters of St. Olaf Iowa, Audrey O'Connell , Jane (Jim) Lafferty of California . Two sister in law's Lita O'Connell and , Lylise Gernert  both of California.  She was preceded in death by her parents along with 4 Brothers infant's Gary and Patrick O'Connell, William O'Connell, Bob Gernert.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday December 31, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Boscobel. Father Peter Auer officiating  Burial in the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church Cemetery Eastman. Friends may call on Tuesday December 30, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Kendall Funeral Home in Boscobel  with a Rosary service at 7:30 P.M. Sorry to hear about Camilla. My deepest sympathy goes out to the whole family. Camilla was a very good friend to me when we moved to Du Charm Ridge/Picatee. I have many fond memories. Becky Johnson

My sincere sympathy to your family. Camilla was a wonderful woman who gave so much to the people around her. I don't think that I ever saw her without a smile. I feel lucky to have known her.
