BLUE RIVER - Patrick Florian Schwingel, age 58, of Blue River, passed away at his home from a sudden illness on Friday, Oct. 31, 2014. Pat was born in Boscobel, WI on June 23,1956, the son of Bryant and Joyce (Oberhauser) Schwingel; the third of four children.

Pat graduated from Riverdale High School, Muscoda in 1974 and later married his high school sweetheart - the love of his life, Debra (Kienitz) Schwingel, on July 26, 1975 and was a lifetime resident of the Blue River area.

Pat was a kind, genuine, loving, and generous man, who would do anything to help family, a neighbor or friends. He never had a bad word to say about anyone, and was a committed, faithful, and caring husband who loved his wife and two kids more than life itself. Pat looked forward to family weekends/events more than anything.  He had a passion for NASCAR racing; and loved sitting in his garage working on a crossword, reading his Bible, listening to a Race, Badger or Brewer game or tinkering with his lawnmowers and working on projects needing his attention.

Pat was a lifelong faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (ICC) in Boscobel & Corpus Christi Parish where he had been an altar server as a child  and was currently serving on the Parish Council and could be seen as a regular usher in Boscobel.  Pat was also a 3rd Degree member and past secretary of the Boscobel Knights of Columbus Council # 6151.

A tremendously hardworking man, Pat was currently employed with Scot Industries for 40+ years, and worked as a Hone Operator.  He could be found mowing lawns for neighborhood friends and for a brief time was a helper with Jones Tree Service of Blue River.  At one time, Pat was a WSJ newspaper delivery person for the Village for several years and a devoted fireman with the Blue River Fire Department from 1976-2003.

Pat is survived and beloved by his wife, Debra, daughter Courtney (Brandon McCormick) Schwingel of Blue River and son, Brandon and wife Mollie Schwingel (granddog Piper) of Monona WI, and was looking forward to his first grandchild due in April. He is further survived by his sisters Donna (Brad) Mulholland of Lone Rock, Julie (Jerry Hackl) Schwingel of Rio; sister-in-law Gloria (Doug Myers) Schwingel of Muscoda; mother-in-law Shirley (LeRoy) Leeck, Val (Michael) Bailey, Sheila Olson, Mike (Joan) Kienitz and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Bryant (Hinie) & Joyce Schwingel; his brother Daniel Schwingel; brothers-in-law Wayne Olson and Dennis Kienitz.

Pat will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

"Trust God's love."   Eternal Rest grant unto him, O Lord!

Services will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Boscobel, WI.  Family & Friends may call on Tuesday evening, November 4, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. Kendall Funeral Home at 209 Mary Street in Boscobel, WI 53805 with Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:30 pm.

I am very sorry for your loss. Pat and I worked together in Muscoda and he always had time to talk to me, he was a gentle soul to me. I will always remember him wearing his stocking cap at work and discussing "Chico and the Man". His tender heart and kind words helped me along many hard roads I had to travel.

Debbie,
When Dianna called me on Sunday I was shocked. We had supper together in Richland Center the beginning of October. I enjoyed so much reconnecting with you. If I lived closer I'd come give you a hug.
I can only imagine what you are going through. I'm praying for you and your children. Even though you are grieving deeply God is full of love. Lean on Him.
With love, Lois
