Carol Jean Marks ended her hard fought battle to pancreatic cancer on Monday, July 15, 2013 at her home in Boscobel, WI surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on February 14th, 1938 in Boscobel, WI. She was the second youngest of 10 children. While living in Madison, she met the love of her life, Glen “Tennessee” Marks. They were married for 55 years and shared a Valentine birthday. Tennessee preceded her in death on May 17, 2013.
Carol Jean had a soft heart, a smile for everyone, and dance moves that would clear the floor.  She was a devout catholic of The Immaculate Conception Church and an avid Packer and Brewer fan. She enjoyed spending time with her sisters and the “birthday club”, and she loved her special tradition of deer hunting weekend with her sisters, daughters, granddaughters, and nieces singing karaoke.  Her greatest joy and accomplishment in life was being a stay at home mother where she raised a close knit family of 5 kids, 4 favorite in-laws, 12 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.  She was the heart of the home and her door was always open to everyone.

She is survived by 1 son: Hershel (Deanna) Marks of Boscobel. 4 Daughters; Pamela (Tom) Waltz of Boscobel, Patsy Marks of Boscobel, Paula (Paul) Davis of Ridgeway, Penny (Corey) Grassel of Boscobel. 12 Grandchildren 1 Great-Granddaughter. 2 Sisters: Marian McKnight of Boscobel, Evelyn Calvert of Fennimore. Several Nieces and Nephews along with several Brother and Sister in Laws. She was preceded in death by her parents. 3 brothers Bernard "Red", James and Allen Elliott. 4 Sisters: Dorothy Kjos, Joanne Trumm, Annabelle Kauffman, Bernice Galer.

Today is a very sad day for all of us who have lost Carol and recently her husband "Tennessee" Marks. Carol was the most loving Mom and adored her family, especially her grandchildren. We will miss her so much. May God grant her family peace and serenity during this difficult time.

Words cannot express how sad I am for all of you. Your mom and dad were two of the best people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. They were born to be together and now they are finally together again.

My deepest sympathies to you all. Your mom fought so hard to stay here with all of you, but God knew she was too tired, too sick. She is healed and beautiful as always...dancing with the love of her life.

My sincere sympathy to your families. I know your mom and dad were very close to my mother and if her health would allow her she would of been down. I can remember stories my mom use to tell about their days in Madison and going dancing. Once again sorry for your loss!

Dear family of Carol and Tennessee, My heart goes out to you as you suffer the loss of your mom and dad in such a short time. God did not promise life would be easy, but he is with you every step of the way. Comfort yourself in good memories and stories of your parents. Remember it takes rain and sunshine to make a rainbow, and you will have your good and bad days. I wish I could attend the celebration of the life of Carol, but have had knee surgery and I am unable to travel. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. And remember the stars in the skies are loved ones letting us know they are nearby, guiding us through the night. Rest in peace Carol and Tennessee wrap your arms around one another and dance to the music of God.

Our heart-felt sympathy to your family. When I saw Boscobel and Elliott, thought I wonder if she would be my late father's cousin. Then when I read about her dance moves clearing the floor, yep - Jack Elliott's cousin indeed. Most Elliotts loved to dance! Sad times when God calls our parents home but in time you will all get thru it with your many wonderful memories of your parents. My sympathy also for the loss of your dad. Hugs to you all! All of the Marks family: I am so sorry for the loss of both your parents so close together. I know they will meet each other again as they were so close and loving to each other. I know that her sister and all of the cousins will miss her smile and laughter.
