Leonard J. Crowley, age 89 of rural Boscobel passed away on Wednesday June 20, 2012 at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. He was born on May 27, 1923 in Steuben Wisconsin.  The son of William and Mary (Cull) Crowley.  He married Ilene Merriman on August 22, 1987 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Boscobel.  She preceded him in death on  February 4 2008. He is survived by three sisters. Margaret  Dremsa Pettra of Boscobel, Mary M. Stuckey of Prairie du Chien, Patricia (Jim) Coorough of Prairie du Chien.  A special friend Tim Mastandrea of Boscobel.  Several Nieces and Nephews. Three sister in laws;  Joyce Sheffield of Carpentersville Illinois, Patricia (Lendal) Diehl of Texas, Marge Sandman of Woodstock Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents a brother Kenneth Crowley, a sister Veronica Duffy.
Leonard Crowley passed away on  June 20, 2012 at the Vernon Memorial Hospital at the age of 89 years old. Leonard has spent his life farming .  He lost his father at the age of seven years old, so life has never come easy. He and his mother farmed together for a number of years before she passed away. Leonard was a member of the Immaculate Conception  Church in Bosccobel and  honorable member of the Knights of Columbus on Sunday Mornings several other Knighst of Columbus members would stop and shake his hand as Leonard sat in the front seat as they returned by to their seats after receieving communion.  Leonard last wish was to be laid to rest wearing hi K.C. Jacket. Leonard was a good neighbor and always ready to lend a helping hand when needed. He was a long time member of the National Farmers Organization and attended many NFO conventions.  He loved to sing and dance to Jim Gorman Band. He loved to play cards, Bingo . He would like to watch the price is right and Wheel of Fortune an never missed hearing the obituaries.  When he heard of a friends death he always managed to attend the visitation or funeral. He married Ilene Merriman in 1987 and they continued farming until becoming in ill health.  In 2004 Leonard was blessed with some new friends when Tim and Kim accidentally came into his life. tim Stopped by looking to buy hay and Leonard said he had some to make so Tim made the hay on shares . Leonard wanted to prove to Tim he could still climb up on the tractor and at age 88 years old he climnbed on the tractor made a small field of hay.  Tim and Kim have taking care of Leonard ever since.
Leonard had a big heard . He loved little children and had many nieces and nephews to share his love with. Leonard will be greatly missed by all who knew him at to all the people who lives he touched.  Special Thanks to Jo Burbach for all her care.       by  Margaret Pettera
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday June 22, 2012 at 11:30 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Boscobel. Father Peter Auer officiating. Burial in the Boscobel Cemetery. You have my deepest sympathy. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I will always remember my childhood days up on the farm with Leonard and Aunt Molly and cherish those memories.
