Howard D. Chapman, age 78 of Boscobel, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019 at Gundersen Health Care in Boscobel, as a result of a horse accident at his farm in Marietta Valley Twp. rural Boscobel. He was born November 15, 1940 in Sycamore Illinois. The son of Frank and Helen (Roberts) Chapman Sr. He attended the Burlington area schools and was in the 1959 class of Central High. He was a proud US Army Veteran, serving in the 237th Engineers, Dec 1959 to Feb 1962. He was stationed in Germany and was on alert at the Berlin Wall Crisis. He married Antoinette Engel on July 21, 1962 at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Hampshire Ill. God blessed their marriage with three sons. Howard grew up on a farm and loved farming. After working on construction for several years he and Antoinette had the opportunity to move to a dairy farm in Grant County Wi, doing so, Jan 2, 1967. On August 7th 1977 Howard excepted Jesus as his savior, and invited Him to come live in his heart. He was a member of Maple Ridge Bible Church. Howard enjoyed working with cattle but loved horses as well. He raised Belgians and Quarter Horses, training many of them in his lifetime. He rode in Ranch Rodeo, Gymkhana, pulled Belgian Horses in competition, rode rodeo bulls and bareback bucking horses in his younger days. Howard also worked for the 314 Carpenters Union for 8-1/2 yrs. He is survived by his wife Antoinette Chapman of Boscobel. Three Sons; Travis (Lori) Chapman of Sun Prairie, Shayne (Connie) Chapman of Soldiers Grove, Heath (Maggie) Chapman of Edgerton. 4 Grandchildren, 5 Great-Grandchildren. Three sisters; Evelyn Campbell of St. Charles Ill., Virginia Flores of Hampshire Ill, Shirley (Mike) Hilleschiem of Hampshire Ill., Three Brothers; George Chapman of Hampshire Ill. Ennis (Ginee) Chapman of Hampshire Ill., James (Wendy) Chapman of Hampshire Ill. A brother in law Casi Tianjero of Carpentersville Ill, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Robert, Frank, Roger Chapman. Two sisters Mildred Johnson, and Carol Bakey.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday July 1, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the Kendall Funeral Home in Boscobel. Pastor Noel Mayes officiating. Burial in the Mt. Zion Cemetery rural Boscobel. Friends may call on Sunday June 30, 2019 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Kendall Funeral Home in Boscobel, and also on Monday from 10;00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
