Dear Judy and the Triplets, who I had the pleasure to meet at Smith Island. My sympathy to you and yours, with the loss of our dear friend, Charlie. He will be sadly missed by all of the BYC membership. He and my Tom , had the love of the same style of boats and shared many stories of repairing and upgrading each, with their heads together. Know you will always be welcomed at BYC and hope you make it over whenever you can. Sending lots of love and hugs

Saddened to learn of death of Charlie Gray, We started school together in 1943 in Canton. As a little boy he was a great friend to me and my twin brother, Bob. After we left Canton in 1946 for Sackets Harbor and later Massena we saw each other only occasionally as our parents were good friends. Through his mother we kept track of his time in the Navy and happy to learn he had returned home after retirement. My great regret is I didn't make a greater effort to stay in touch as I was very fond of him. I also remember his sister Peggy. My deepest condolences to his family. Dick Johnston, Maryville, Tenn.

We are so sorry for your loss and we will greatly miss chatting and visiting with the both of you at Smiths Island. We have lost an active member of the Brockville Yacht Club and a friend that was always accommodating if we required help out at the island. During my time as Smith Island director, Charlie was always ready to complete any chore requested of him and he certainly made my job a lot easier.
