Posted by: Liz LaFuze Tue March 07, 2017 | I worked as a volunteer with Nate for the last several years at the Humane Society. As a retired principal, we instantly formed a connection. I was always so excited to hear of his plans and he had so many dreams. I had no doubt he would be something special in the field of education. Every Saturday he would always want to share his teaching plans and ask for my advice. He was so very special. He loved the dogs too. Nate was always so happy and upbeat... excited about everything. I am truly devastated about his death. My condolences to your entire family. |
Posted by: Peggy Van Voorhis Tue March 07, 2017 | I am a professor at Florida SouthWestern State College and had the privilege of mentoring Nate during his internship at Paul Laurence Dunbar Elementary School. He was an outstanding teacher and a joyous inspiration to all who met him. He shared with me he wanted to open his own school in a few years and make a difference for his students and the Dunbar community. I so looked forward to this and know he would have made it happen. It is breathtakingly sad that that he will not be able to follow this path. I already miss him tremendously personally, and miss the positive changes he would have made in our world. I will remember him always. Family and friends, please accept my heartfelt sympathy. |

Posted by: Kathy Caldwell Wed March 08, 2017 | I am devastated to lose my friend Nate. I always told him he was my idol & I enjoyed our Sunday morning talks when I volunteer socializing cats and Nate worked the lobby and cat rooms. I lauded his past plans to graduate from college and teach & was thrilled that he started on that journey. He wanted to go through his doctorate and go back and lead a school and help the children of Dunbar. His smile was infectious and I will always remember sweet Nate. What a wonderful young man! He loved his students and the animals and always kept me updated on them. In Nate's honor I will give a memorial donation to the Gulf Coast Humane Society. watch over me, Nate now that you are an angel. |
