So saddened to hear that my cousin I never knew was taken from this world in such a horrific way. Joseph’s father Frank was my mother Agnes’s brother. I also grew up in the area but have not lived there for over 34 years.
My sincere condolences to all extended family.

So grief stricken that Joe is gone. His passing into Heaven leaves a big hole in our hearts. He will be remembered as fun loving, happy and always made you feel welcome. His backyard picnics were great and pool parties for the kids.
Joe waas my daughter's Godfather. He spent lots of precious father-daughter time at the park. He taught her to ride a bike. He was an amazingly great "daddy" figure that she needed.
Who didn't love Joe? He was my brother of 36 years. My only brother. He was our handyman, our mechanic & 'go to' guy. Even a casket builder for our big setter, Rusty.
Fran & Joe rented a truck to bring me home from a bad marriage. He was always trying to make things better for everyone. And he did. His goodness is too immense to recount. His giant heart will be missed.
We love you Uncle Joe. Enjoy heaven. It's a little brighter with you there.

I'm so saddened to hear this dear, sweet, man & loving man has been taken in such a horrific way! May God keep him under his loving wing. Deepest sympathies to his remaining family that cared for him dearly.
I lived next to Joe for a few years prior to his residence in Edwardsville. He was the nicest guy! He visited his ailing brother every night for dinner and kept him company. He took in his granddaughter and her friends like they were his own. He was very giving. He helped me a few times with little things in my house and always offered a listening ear. I would often bring him over baked goods and would joke I was making him fat. Lol I held much respect for him. I can't believe he is gone.
