Helen E. Grochal, 92, formerly of Exeter, and a resident of Sugar Notch, passed away on Friday October 26, 2018 at the Celtic Hospice and Home Health at Geisinger South Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Exeter, she was the daughter of the late John and Barbara Hayko Hetro.

Helen resided in Exeter most of her life was then cared for by her daughter, Barbara Coleman and in later years was a resident at Smith Health Care, Mountaintop.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Stanley Grochal who died in 2006 and sisters Mary Piekara and Julia Kurilla, brothers George, John, Michael, Andrew and Joseph Hetro.

Helen was a former member of St. John the Baptist Church, Exeter and was active in their Altar and Rosary Society. In her working years, Helen was a seamstress in the garment industry in the local area, and had also worked at Wyoming Area school district in housekeeping.

Surviving are her daughters, Barbara and her husband, Thomas Coleman, Sugar Notch, Mary and her husband Gary Martenson, Clarks Summit, Ann and her husband Joseph Barba, Wesley Chapel, FL, sons, Stanley, Exeter, John and his wife, Mary Gildea Grochal, Harding, 17 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren,, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday from 10am until 11:30am at the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, LLC, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.

A Mass of Christian burial will follow at noon at Corpus Christi Parish in Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston. The Monsignor John Sempa, pastor, will be celebrant.

Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Cedar St., Exeter.
